Ready to upgrade your work-from-home life? I’m thrilled to finally be able to share what’s been keeping me so busy lately (and not updating this blog – my bad)… I wrote a book!

It’s no secret that the world is a little, shall we say, WEIRD right now. I recently had to try and make it back from my month-long Bali trip before flights were cancelled and the UK went into lockdown. It was a mad rush, but I was ultimately successful. I was very fortunate to be able to come back and isolate in a cosy house with everything I need, but I couldn’t help but feel frustrated when I realised that the book I had been slowly chipping away at for many, many months (a book all about self-employed life) seemed suddenly irrelevant. How could I release a book about being self-employed when so many freelancers and business owners were now struggling to make ends meet?!
I quickly hit pause on that project, but I already had a partially written manuscript full of advice on working from home just sitting on my laptop… and millions of people were now unexpectedly working from home… (you see where I’m going with this). So, I released my first eBook – Working In Pyjamas – on the Amazon Kindle Store.
Working In Pyjamas
If you are struggling with the many mindset and productivity challenges that come with working from home, or you’re just getting started and want to set up the best WFH life from the outset, I honestly believe this is the book you need on your Kindle or eReader.
Whether you are a freelancer, a remote full-time employee, or you operate a part-time side-hustle from home, this book offers some easily digestible tips for making the most of your homeworking life.
Inside, I share advice on:
– Setting up your ideal workspace to inspire you and limit distractions
– Creating the morning routine that sets you up for success
– Being organised and strategic about your day
– Learning to be disciplined
– Productivity hacks for maximum efficiency
– Setting boundaries with others, and protecting your mindset
– Dealing with loneliness when working solo
– The importance of movement, sleep, stress management, and more
As a freelance copywriter, I have spent the last three years honing my homeworking setup and systems, much of which I have shared over the years right here on Desk Life Project. This book compiles every lesson I have learned along the way, plus plenty of nuggets of wisdom from fellow self-employed folks, business owners, bloggers, a productivity coach, a podcaster, a finance coach and a virtual pilates teacher, to name a few; there’s something for everyone who works in their pyjamas.
The Trussell Trust
To make it even better, ‘Working In Pyjamas’ is also supporting the Trussell Trust with their vital food bank initiative. I’ll be donating 50% of all profits from book sales made before 1st June 2020 – so make sure you grab your copy before then. More and more people are being forced to use food banks because there’s nowhere else for them to turn. Last year The Trussell Trust provided 1.6 million three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis, and over 500,000 of these went to children. As the pandemic develops, thousands more could be relying on this lifeline.
My hope is that this book can raise a little money to help support the important work the Trussell Trust does, as well as help those new to working from home during this strange time.
You’ll find a preview below, and the link to buy. If you enjoy the book (or even if you don’t!) please do remember to leave a review on Amazon. This will help more people find it and, fingers crossed, raise more money for the Trussell Trust.
